As attention turns to the summer holiday season, there is still the business end of the football season to start out in Menorca.

The island could have as many as four teams in Tercera Division next season, depending on the outcome of the play-offs in upcoming weeks.

The two currently highest-ranked Menorcan teams are CE Mercadal and CE Alaior, who returned to Tercera Division for the 2023/24 season.

Mercadal are safe in mid-table obscurity, currently sitting ninth, while Alaior are six points clear of safety with four games to play so should be fine.

Potentially joining them are newly crowned Menorcan champions CD Migjorn, who now have a two-legged play-off against Cardassar of Majorca to earn a place in Tercera Division.

The away leg is on May 4th, with the return in Menorca on May 11th.

The path is a lot more complicated for the second Menorcan team in the play-offs. The teams that finished second to fifth in the league season qualified for the play-offs, and the semi-final stage last weekend saw Sporting Mahon defeat UD Mahon 3-2, and CE Ferreries beat CD Menorca 2-1.

That means Sporting Mahon take on Ferreries this Sunday (April 28) for a place in the promotion play-offs, where they will line-up against counterparts from Mallorca and Ibiza to fight for an additional promotion spot.
